Like to be happy, like to dance, enjoy newgrass music, love old time traditional music with a modern spin?
Check out the Hickory Horned Devils
The Hickory Horned Devils bring their own blend of modern old-timey Appalachian Mountain music, traditional folk/country/bluegrass/Irish and original music to the rolling hills of Hillsborough County, NH. Though our sound is unique, our music is fun and familiar. Do you find yourself gravitating toward the "O Brother, Where art thou?" sound track, or tunes like "Wagon Wheel"? If so, you'll definitely want to check us out.
Inspired by bands like "Old Crow Medicine Show, Ralph Stanley, the Johnny Cash band, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Crooked Still, and musicians like Dirk Powell, Bruce Molsky, Norman Blake, Chance McCoy, Gillian Welch, and Dan Timinsky, our music is played with traditional instruments like the fiddle, acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin and upright bass. Depending on the gig, we do mix it up with the 3-stringed viola (Kontra), harmonica, banjolele, and snare drum.
We love to play and sing the sounds of traditional southern Appalachian music with a modern twist of todays Americana music. We play our own unique style of music, which often includes giving popular contemporary songs a traditional acoustic sound.
Band members include; Britt Lundgren, who plays a mean fiddle, Jen Albee, who sings lead and harmony, Will Platt who tears it up on the mandolin, acoustic guitar, snare, Kontra and sings, Phil Clarner who sings, picks acoustic guitar, and writes songs, and Ray Ciemny who plays clawhammer banjo, banjolele, harmonica, and sings.
The Horned Devils play private parties, barn dances, restaurants, bars, weddings, festivals, etc. around Southern NH and beyond.
The Hickory Horned Devils are an old time string band that like to mix it up with bluegrass, folk, Irish, cool originals, and other Americana style music. We are available for partys, bars, restaurants, weddings, square dances, contra dances, you name it and we'll do it.
